Church of the Holy Trinity - Leeds LS1

GRADE I REFURBISHMENT AND ALTERATIONS, HOLY TRINITY CHURCH, LEEDS.

Our project at the Grade I listed Holy Trinity Church, Boar Lane, Leeds has seen both interior and exterior work being carried out. The extensive refurbishment programme included new discreet floodlighting for the whole of the exterior, cleaning and repointing of stonework, introducing new floor levels with ramps for universal access to the church, new sound reinforcement and audio-visual installation, upgraded fire detection, power and a completely new lighting scheme that has enhanced the fresh decorations that reflect the original scheme and illuminated the specially cleaned monuments and original features.

Access to the refurbished café has been brought central where we have extended two existing openings to give entry through contemporary glazed steel screens. This connects the two spaces much more directly than the previous layout and, together with the levelling of the floor, dissolves the axial hierarchy of the church.

Using our own workforce and specialist subcontractors, together with key artisan craftsmen, we executed this project under tricky conditions and this has helped this iconic city centre church regain its place among Leeds’ finest places of worship.
