Overview
Nestled within the prestigious Harrogate Conservation Area, this project involved a sensitive yet striking renovation of a grand Victorian semi-detached home, alongside a contemporary extension designed to enhance functionality and connectivity without compromising heritage character.

Design Concept
In a bold fusion of tradition and modernity, the extension presents a contemporary reinterpretation of the classic lean-to design. Key architectural features include:

• A glazed wall elegantly framed by an extending soffit, inspired by the overhanging soffit and eaves of the existing Victorian structure

• Careful alignment of modern detailing with historic fabric, creating a seamless connection between old and new

This compact yet transformative addition now encloses a staircase, providing secure internal access from the ground-floor kitchen/dining area to the basement and garden level, significantly improving circulation and opening the home to the lush outdoor space.
