Case Study: Tower Cottage – Contemporary SIPs Home Near Otley
Overview
Located near Otley, Tower Cottage is a striking example of blending heritage with modern architecture. This project involved replacing a dated 1960s bungalow—partly constructed from the original stables of an adjacent mansion—with a sleek, energy-efficient family home.
The planners required us to retain the 150-year-old gable from the original structure, seamlessly integrating it into the contemporary design. The result is a home that respects its historical context while delivering cutting-edge performance and aesthetics.
Construction & Materials
The new home was built using structural insulated panels (SIPs), ensuring outstanding thermal performance and rapid on-site assembly. The SIP frame was overclad in a mix of Siberian Larch and acrylic render, creating a warm yet modern façade.
