Overview
This former hotel in Harrogate was transformed into a luxury residence, featuring a striking circular extension link and a fully refurbished cellar. The extension replaces a former external fire escape, which was carefully dismantled before the existing stonework was seamlessly repaired to maintain the building’s historic character.

Extension Design
The newly formed link is a showcase of bespoke craftsmanship, featuring:

• Curved aluminium and glass framework for a sleek, contemporary look

• Elastomeric single-ply roofing membrane for superior durability

• Oversailing cedar-clad element adding natural warmth and texture

This design creates a dramatic yet harmonious connection between the building’s original and new elements, enhancing flow and function.

Cellar Conversion
The existing cellar was reimagined into a practical living space, with:

• Excavation of the floor to achieve proper head height

• Installation of a free-flowing tanking system for water ingress protection
